DEBATE TRANSCRIPTION

[THAT SUBJECTIVISM SHOULD BE THE DOMINANT AESTHETIC EVALAUTION APPROACH AS OPPOSED TO EMOTIVISM]

-SPEAKER 3 AFFIRMITIVE-

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and very good evening to lecturer Dr. Tan and fellow my friends,,,fellow friends.Today I stand here talk about the subjectivism in art. My first point, the aesthetic evaluation of the aspects  subjectivism to is easy to assess of beauty of the difference with aspects of emotivism. This is because, the aspects of subjectivism is the assessment to the artwork through their own views. When we evaluate to something of artwork we can see to elements of art. By example line, shape, fabriccolour, and form. And then we can see   to principles of design by example to harmony, dominant, balance, economy, and so on. The assessment to something artwork give to about dominant subjectivism. Thank you..

CRITISM VIDEO

'Kami 1 Malaysia'

Animation Upin and Ipin that tells ‘Kami 1 Malaysia’ (part 1). We know that the animation Upin and Ipin it is very popular among Malaysians. This animation is also well known overseas for its emphasis on stories of the people of Malaysia. Therefore, our group agreed to criticize aspects of the animation subjectivism, objectivism, emotivism and relativism. Relativism is my choice.

The first criteria. Audience can remember animation Upin and Ipin full after a long time compared to the animation as Kluang Man. This is because the animation tells the story of the life experiences during childhood playing with friends in the evening. Games made by the children are playing war with toy guns. In addition, this animation tells the life experiences during the Japanese. This can affect the depth because the villagers have difficulty obtaining food such as rice, flour, chicken, vegetables, and so forth.

The second criteria. Audience can understand the concept of 1 Malaysia from animation Upin and Ipin with full life after watching this animation compared with Kluang Man. 1 Malaysia concept introduced by the YAB Dato 'Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia. This concept is consistent with what the Federal Constitution and the Fundamental Principles of State. This is because the animation tells the story of various races such as Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Christian character is used as a child.

The third criteria. Audience can learn the animation process Upin and Ipin after the development of digital technology used to be the easier and faster than animation Kluang Man. Animation (2D or 3D either) can now be generated using specific software: Adobe Flash, Zest, Toonz, Toon Boom Studio, 3D Max, and Maya.

The next step, I support subjectivism and emotivism to evaluate an animation. As the audience can make an assessment to the satisfaction of the audience after watching the animation. This is because, audience can give their own views to assess the animation. Emotivism aspect, the audience has its own emotions and can assess the animation after his watch. Further, in terms of objectivism, audience lack evaluate after watching the animation. This is because objectivism provide a variety of evaluation to the audience.

In conclusion, the audience can make an assessment in areas such as subjectivism, objectivism, emotivism and relativism. As the audience has their own opinion and can make an assessment of post watching the animation.

EMOTIONAL DESIGN

WHY WE LOVE (OR HATE) EVERYDAY THINGS
by donald a. norman

CHAPTER ONE. Attractive things work better.Donald started a research project to examine the interaction of the effects of behavior and cognition. Donald has to think of an experiment on the impact and emotion. Donald said that emotions change the way the human
mind resolve emotional systemSo, if aesthetics will change our emotional state will affect the mysteryEmotions are a part of human psychology explored badWith emotion scan also make product designs more creativeUse positive emotions such as failing to produce the desired productthe right way is to try again with more effort and look for alternative solutions. For negative emotions when they will fail to provide solutions lebig feel tenserestless, and so forth.

Three levels of processing are visceral, behavioral, and reflective.Donald review with his emotion in psychology suggests that humans are the properties of the results from three different levels of the brain.Three stages: visceral, behavioral, and reflective. Each stage plays a different role. The automatic, prewired layer, called the visceral level; the part that contains the brain processes that control everyday behavior, known as the behavioral level; and the contemplative part of the brain, or the reflective level.

Focus and creativity.Donald said to produce a product design must have acreative mind and focus.Designers need to have ready the creativity to produce the product.Designers need to find creative ideas to get quality products. For its effectiveness is positive designers need rest and quiet for creative thinking.

The prepared brain.Donald said  the visceral level is the simplest and most primitive part of the brain, it is sensitive to a very wide range of conditions. These are genetically determined, with the conditions evolving slowly over the time course of evolution. Although human language comes from the behavioral and reflective levels, it provides a good example of how biological predispositions mix with experience. The human brain comes ready for language: the architecture of the brain, the way the different components are structured and interact, constrains the very nature of language. Accordingly, they are important for design. While designers can use this knowledge of the brain to make designs more effective, there is no simple set of rules. The human mind is incredibly complex, and although all people have basically the same form of body and brain, they also have huge individual differences.

CHAPTER TWO.The multiple faces of emotion and design.Donald said the design requirements for each level differ widely. The visceral level is pre-consciousness, pre-thought. This is where appearance matters and first impressions are formed. Visceral design is about the initial impact of a product, about its appearance, touch, and feel. The behavioral level is about use, about experience with a product. But experience itself has many facets: function, performance, and usability. Reflective design, therefore, is about long term relations, about the feelings of satisfaction produced by owning, displaying, and using a product. A person's self-identity is located with in the reflective level, and here is where the interaction between the product and
your identity is important as demonstrated in pride of ownership or use. Customer interaction and service matter at this level.

Objects that evoke memories.Donald said that emotions reflect personal experiences, associations and memories. Personal photographs, souvenirs, reminders and social insturmen, enabling shared memory. Digital camera to evoke memories of Donald. With this technology makes it easier to store, transmit, share, and as. It's easier to find only the desired images years after they were taken and put instorage. The pictures are clearly important to the emotional life of people.People have been known to rush back into the burning house to save a precious picture. Despite the ubiquity of the personal camera, portrait photographers  maintain a vibrant business, partly because professionals usually only have the skills needed to light and formulate stroke to produce high-quality images.

CHAPTER THREE. Three Level Design Visceral, behavior, and Reflecting. The design of such visceral nature. We humans evolved to live in an environment with other people, animals, plants, landscapes, weather and other natural phenomena. As a result, we have a beautiful tuned to receive signals from the strong emotions that have defined the environment automatically on visceral level. When we see something that is "beautiful," the judgment that comes straight from the visceral level. In the world of design, "beautiful" is generally frowned upon, condemned as a small depth, banal, or lack of, and materials-but that reflects the designer speak.

Behavioral design is all about use. Appearance doesn't really matter.Rationale doesn't matter. Performance does. This is the aspect of design that practitioners in the usability community focus upon. The principles of good behavioral design are well known and often told; indeed, I laid them out in my earlier book, The Design of Everyday Things. What matters here are four components of good behavioral design: function, understandability, usability, and physical feel. Sometimes the feel can be the major rationale behind the product.

Reflective design covers a lot of territory. It is all about message, about culture, and about the meaning of a product or its use.

In conclusion, The People can evaluate a product is liked or disliked. This leads to people and products are related to each other. By the three aspects of  visceral, behavioral and reflective
 role is important to people.

ON THE AESTHETIC EDUCATION OF MAN [1ST LETTER-5TH LETTER]

Friedrich Schiller wrote Letters on the Aesthetic Education of Man in 1793 for his friend the Danish Prince Friedrich Christian who had provided him with a stipend to help him through an illness. In 1795 the letters were published and the provide a worthwhile consideration of the nature of Aesthetics for us still today. The collection of twenty seven letters is not an easy read but it is worth persevereing to gain the insights of this great poet and playwright, friend of Goethe and inspiration for Beethoven and many artists, particularly in the Romantic era.

In my understanding the first letter in the book On the Aesthetic Education of Man by Friedrich Schiller tells the story of Beauty and Art is part of the Aesthetic. Aesthetics is a philosophy of art is an exploration leading to a humanitarian philosophy. However the letters do consider the nature of Beauty and its relationship to art and man. For Friedrich Schiller beauty seems to arise as a synthesis between opposing principles "whose highest ideal is to be sought in the most perfect possible union and equilibrium of reality and form".

In a second letter,Friedrich Schiller told about of art is distinguished from utility and science. Utility is the great idol of the time, to which all powers do homage and all subjects are subservient. In this great balance of utility, the spiritual service of art has no weight, and, deprived of all encouragement, it vanishes from the noisy Vanity Fair of our time. The very spirit of philosophical inquiry itself robs the imagination of one promise after another, and the frontiers of art are narrowed, in proportion as the limits of science are enlarged. Friedrich Schiller also said that the philosopher is no longer present study the art world, but they like to to know and inquire into the political game. he considered that people are meant to be manipulated by certain behalf of itself, and people have the default to study and investigate on their own stupidity. and people at present have gone their right to voice their opinions to themselves, they resisted if there is some express their own opinions. Friedrich Schiller hopes that he would assure to all that art is less foreign to the needs of taste to express, but, arriving at the solution even in the political, aestheticway must continue, because it is beauty in freedom.

The third letter,Friedrich Schiller also discusses the nature of the ideal man and how the impulse for play interacts with man's nature, especially his rational and sensuous aspects which form a juxtaposition within him. This juxtaposition is discussed at length with a synthesis described in terms that suggest a transcendance that culminates in our very humanity. Man and his nature is important to Schiller as his reason, but "The first appearance of reason in Man is not yet the beginning of his humanity. The latter is not decided until he is free." The realm of nature, within which man lives, does not contain all of man: the work of reason allows man to transcends the bounds of nature by elevating physical necessity into moral necessity, from the state of nature to the moral state–without, however, jeopardizing the realm of nature that nourishes man. According to Friedrich Schiller, freedom is attained when the sensual and rational in man are fully integrated but his aesthetic disposition is seen as coming from Nature.

In letters to the four,Friedrich Schiller told about the state of nature works by compulsion, while the moral state works through freedom and rational choice. As previously suggested, has preponderance that a revolution in a state according to moral principles can be free from injurious consequences; nor can anything else secure its endurance. In proposing or setting up a moral state, the moral law is relied upon as a real power, and free will is drawn into the realm of causes, where all hangs together mutually with stringent necessity and rigidity. But we know that the condition of the human will always remains contingent, and that only in the Absolute Being physical coexists with moral necessity.

In a letter to five,Friedrich Schiller told about the present state is characterized by lower classes governed “animal satisfactions,” while the higher classes exhibit and even more disgusting ”lethargy” in the form of unfettered egotism. Egotism has founded its system in the very bosom of a refined society, and without developing even a sociable character, we feel all the contagions and miseries of society.

In conclusion, art is therefore necessary to develop this feeling. “Even before Truth’s triumphant light can penetrate the recesses of the human heart, the poet’s imagination will intercept its rays, and the peaks of humanity will be radiant while the dews of night still linger in the valley”. People object that beauty’s relationship to pure form, rather than content, could lead soem to reject reality all together. But Schiller says that perhaps Experience as such is not the best place to go looking for positions of judgment.
